About the Author
Ron Willingham is the author of 11 books, and more than 20 training courses that have been conducted in 130 nations, with more than 1.5 million graduates. In the early 1980s, his Integrity Selling course was the first to combine client-focused, needs-based selling concepts aimed at creating actual behavior change. He was the first chairperson of the National Speakers Association’s Sales Trainers Group. When Ron Willingham writes a book, I read it. He always gives ideas and guidance that make me a better me. His newest piece, Authenticity, has true depth and...well...authenticity! Ron cuts to the core of selling, explaining--in clear terms--the deep psychology of how to fundamentally change one's game as a sales person. This is a message each of us can use to become more fulfilled and effective in life because, after all, everybody sells.

Authenticity Satisfies the Soul

Plastic breaks and so do we when we try to live and work at a surface level. We are plastic if we don’t keep learning not just the things we need to know but the reasons underlying our knowing. This is what Mr. Willingham is delivering in his new book, Authenticity. I have made a living as a sales person since 1979 and have read all the famous books on how to sell. Just when I thought I understood my craft, this book presents fresh insight. On a sales call via the phone yesterday I opened to page 121 and just one sentence on the page kept me right on target to close the sale of my life.

Willingham does it again!

This the textbook you wish every salesperson you ever met had read and mastered!

For years Ron Willingham has been teaching salespeople that the true path to career fulfillment and success in the profession lies in building a habit of client-first focus. His other books crowd the bookshelves of the world's most successful sales professionals, dogeared and bookmarked with good reason. Just look at the folks that endorsed this book to understand the wide appeal his work has for those who know their craft.

In this new book, he lays out the clearest and most comprehensive six step selling process I've ever seen. You can perceive a definite evolution proceeding from his older material to a place where the needs and interests of the client are paramount. The process he lays out, 6 steps in all, are as simple as they are profound and grounded in the premise that no sale really takes place outside of this natural process. In today's world, where we employ more accidental salespeople than those who have trained and honed their skills into a craft, the book is all the more important for its use of of the 6 step process.

The real value of the book, and Willingham's philosophy, though, isn't constrained to a mnemonic process. Rather, he bookends the process with a series of brief and profound psychological exercises designed to bring awareness to our default levels of focus and selling preferences. This alone is worth the price of the book, but the most powerful chapters form the latter part of the book. Its there that we find the encouragement and models necessary to clear out the harmful toxins that have accumulated in our psyches and unconsciously affect our selling behaviors. Here Willingham is at his best and operating out of a near-monopoly of working with the deepest drivers of success and creating real and lasting behavior change.

It might sound cliche, but if you can only read one sales book today read this one. If you can read two, buy this one and read it twice.

Very useful for the main sights

Since it focusses on a couple of places extensively, with handy, informative city walks and lots of info about eating, sleeping and transportation, but skips entire parts of the Scandinavic countries, this guide is very good, and perhaps even more useful than the Lonely Planet, if you only visit those places described in the book and not the rest. Not all major destinations are listed, e.g. Trondheim and Göteborg are missing, hence my 4 out of 5 stars, but even with those cities missing I though it a very useful book. The city walks are excellent and somehow we often ended up in restaurants that were listed.
I bought the ebook version which was very convenient on both phone and tablet, the only disadvantage being that you have to browse quite a bit between the city walk maps and the (very informative) written description.

Absolutely Essential

I especially liked Steve's Norway in a Nutshell trip you can take on your own. We skipped the expensive, shorter excursion offered by the cruise ship and saved enough to pay for all of our tour books. We visited all of the Scandinavian countries and used this book before docking in each major city, as well as in Tallinn, Estonia. Warning: the book makes you want to go back for more!

My wife and I depart the first week in August for a Baltic Sea cruise aboard the Silver Whisper. Just found this new hard-cover book at B&N today. It has beautiful photos and information on many of the places we will be visiting. Not only are we enjoying it now and allowing to help our trip planning, but I can see it will be a book we will treasure for many years to come.

Karen Ordahl Kupperman is Silver Professor of History at New York University. She received her Ph.D. from Cambridge University and is the author of many award-winning books and articles, including the American Historical Association's Albert J. Beveridge Award for her book PROVIDENCE ISLAND, 1630-1641: THE OTHER PURITAN COLONY(1993), and most recently, The American Historical Association Prize in Atlantic History.

multiple angles

This book is a collection of essays and primamry documents with some notes from the editor. Each chater is around 30-40 pages and it is a good amount of info per subject on more generally unknown histories in America. It can be a little dull at times, but there is alot of great information on generally unknown American history and the style of presentation is very academic.

Great textbook, the major problems series should be used more often!

I took a Colonial History class at my college this semester and this was the assigned reading. It was so refreshing to get to work with primary documents for once, as all other textbooks I'd ever used only had a splattershot of secondary resources. Each chapter is divided into two sections, one with primary resources including letters, newspaper publications and speeches and the other with essays by leading scholars in their field. The readings are long; however, they are extremely diversified from tedious readings like William Penn's plan for Philadelphia to extremely humorous readings like a Maryland traveler who encounters a drunkard named Captain Scrotum in a Philadelphia tavern.

This book includes a good number of relevant documents and gives perspective with historical essays while also enabling a reader to look at the physical history of the time, very helpful.

As someone who is highly interested in all things regarding PUA and who has read quite a few books on the subject I would encourage not waist your time on this piece of crap book! Although you are promised to learn about hypnotism in this book you do not. After reading through all of the BS the author spouts off about you are given a plug for a book that you can write the author for on how to hypnotize women. The first chapters until then are information encouraging you to use dating service and adds for sex. You are told all of the places that you can find hookers in England and how you can wait in public restrooms and watch guys pee until you see one glance at you who is willing to get you off in the stall. This guy gives a bad name pick up artists and is why most people are unwilling to listen to anything related to the topic. This guy is not a pick up artist as much as he is a pervert who should be locked up for half of the crap he pulls. If you want to be a giant doosher then read this book and you will be on your way to being locked up as a sexual offender!

About the Author
At the age of 12, Meagan Marie wanted to be Lara Croft. After realizing that “fictional character” wasn’t a vocation, she set her sights on working in the video game industry. Meagan attended school for Graphic Design and Journalism/Mass Communications at the University of Minnesota and secured a position at Game Informer magazine fresh out of college. She worked at Game Informer for several years, covering a variety of content such as news writing, event reporting, and long-lead original features. Highlights of her time at the publication include authoring world-exclusive cover stories for Portal 2 and the Tomb Raider reboot. The latter introduced her to the team at Crystal Dynamics.

After the issue hit newsstands and the fresh take on the franchise had debuted to the world, Meagan was offered a position at Crystal Dynamics as CommunityManager, relocating to California to accept the role. Now Senior Community Manager, over the past five years, Meagan has been responsible for establishing and evolving the brand presence on social media, engaging with fans online and at events worldwide, and acting as a studio spokesperson. The job has allowed her to travel everywhere from Singapore to São Paulo, feeding a flame for adventure originally ignited by Lara.

Inspired to use her platform to give back, Meagan is outspoken on issues of representation in gaming and pop culture. A long time cosplayer, she is also the creator of Causeplay Shop, which brings cosplayers and geek artists together for semi-annual sales that benefit charitable causes.

Meagan’s passion for Tomb Raider has endured throughout her life—from dressing up as Lara in her teens, to saving allowance money for variant comic covers, to keeping a constant eye out for her next outdoor adventure. She still dresses up as Lara Croft. Some things don’t change.

Just received my copy in the mail today and it is absolutely stunning. It's essentially a comprehensive look at Tomb Raider in the last twenty years and celebrates the anniversary of Lara Croft, the undisputed queen of gaming. Meagan Marie did an outstanding job writing this masterpiece and including so much information, fun facts, pictures, interviews, letters from fans, cosplay profiles, history of Lara Croft and her future and it's simply phenomenal. I've been a Tomb Raider fan since its debut twenty years ago today back in October 1996 and it's been such a wild and brilliant journey ever since. Lara Croft has always been amazing and has come such a long way from the original Tomb Raider all the way to Rise of the Tomb Raider and everything in between. This is the ultimate, definitive collector's piece and a must-have for any and all Tomb Raider fans!

Review of 20 Years of Tomb Raider

I haven't actually finished the book. The book is huge and thick. So far, it goes into every detail about how Tomb Raider came about in the 90's and even talks about how Lara Croft was created. I haven't had a chance to continue reading from where I left off, because I moved to a new house and am still unpacking boxes like crazy but when I get a chance I'm going to get right back into it. But, I wanted to leave a review anyway, because I already know what I'm going to say....it's beyond awesome. 5 stars, definitely buy this if you're a Tomb Raider and even if you've been a fan since the beginning like me. I preordered this when the price was around $17 and change but I haven't checked to see if the retail price became the actual price after the the book was actually out. But, I really got a good deal as far as the price goes. It should cost a lot more and I'm glad I preordered it.

EEEEEEE!!!!!! I seriously cannot believe I own this masterpiece!!!!!! Seriously guys, this book is SO HEAVY AND BIG and loaded with every single piece of Tomb Raider fact dating back to the very first day Toby Gard even thought the character up! This is truly a gift, I cannot believe I have this in my possession. It talks about EVERY. SINGLE. THING a Tomb Raider fan would ever want to know. I am finding so many treasures in here, information I didn't even know about!

This book is the Bible of Morphology, the most famous and reliable word-formation book in the world even now. As Marchand analyzed words based on OED, we can know the development of each type of compounding and each suffix in detail. I hope publishers will reprint this book before long :-)
