Chuck Amuck: The Life and Times of an Animated Cartoonist is a sort of autobiography of Chuck Jones, the brilliant Warner Brothers animator who created such enduring characters as Wile E. Coyote and Marvin the Martian. Like his best cartoons, Jones skips around to the fun parts, giving a bit of childhood here, a few words of drawing advice there, and a good yarn wherever one fits. Jones also manages to work in a detailed yet somehow never boring description of the long and silly process of making a cartoon. Jones is refreshingly generous about spreading credit around to others. He fondly remembers art teachers, tips his hat to fellow directors and mentors Friz Freleng and Tex Avery, and gives the reader a new appreciation of the layout men who create the backgrounds for animated features. Most engaging are Jones's accounts of office life at Warner Brothers, which sounds like just as much fun as you hope it would be. Jones recounts stories of drawing tables wired to wake up sleeping animators when the boss approached and Cal Howard, a gag writer who ran an illegal commissary out of his metal-lined desk. The book is filled with sketches and color plates of much-loved moments from Warner Brothers cartoons and even includes a quick Road Runner and Coyote scene that comes to life when the pages are flipped. A Must Read for Fanatics

Never have I been more drawn-in (no pun intended) to an autobiography more than this one. The Man lives up to his legend. I've always been purely fascinated by his style, his sarcastic humor, his satire. Even from a very young age, if I saw his name anywhere in the credits, my eyes were glued to the screen. Not surprisingly, I purchased and finished this read the same day. I couldn't put it down.
If you're a fan of his work, of comedy, of classic animation, READ THIS BOOK. An art professor would do very well to recommend this read to any of his students. And for those of you, like me, who just purely appreciate his art, it's a peek at the man behind the icons we love. These cartoons are him and his teams' inside jokes and we are all in on it now. It's an amazing read. Don't skip it.

I will make mine the words of some other critics: many of the things on this book are not factual. not the truth as some would say. but it does not need to be. It's the world view of a man who entertained the world through rabbit, ducks and road runners. the view of a man who shaped entires generations with his cartoons. a man who made worlds of make-believe, its only fitting that his world view would be of make-believe also.

This book is a must-have for fans of not just Warner Bros. animation, but animation period. This book is an autobiography written by Chuck Jones, one of the most popular animators of all time. The book records his early childhood to his later years around he wrote this book. He reveals what happened during the Golden Age of Animation at Warner Bros. and includes a great deal of his own humor.
The book was in good condition with some of the sentences are highlighted, which might mean it was a study book. Overall this book is great and fans of classic animation should purchase it.

Only spanking

I gave this author two stars for his other book because I though he was too severe. The descriptions are very vivid and go on for a long time. I then realized that that is the main theme of his books. While the long, humiliating spanking goes on and on, there is no real story. The characters are publicly spanked, and while the descriptions are hot they are unrealistic. More s & d, not for everyone and certainly not erotic.

Upon reflection I would give the story 4 stars. I read the blurb and still purchased it and now realize that it is well written and if I felt embarrassed that was the whole point. I was too judgmental and now realize that the author got me emotionally involved in the story
which is what a good writer does.

Author Fiona Quinn writers in the first person and pens an exciting tale replete with many strange twists and dark turns. She's creates quite a vivd character in Lexie Sabado. Both beautiful and smart, men move mountains to get her attention. And although she wants to live a 'average' life, go to college and study like other twenty year olds, everyone around Lexie realizes that she is far from average. Her 'knowing' is such special weapon that even she eventually realizes that she must use this gift to help keep her country safe. But first she must survive the perverted person stalking her and live to fight another day.

I really enjoyed this fast moving novel. Quinn obviously has a lot of fun with her character, and it shows. After putting Lexie through the wringer with each graphic page, Quinn leaves us with some interesting surprises at the end of the book. It will be interesting to see where Lexi Sabado goes from here. My guess is a highly successful series. Highly recommended!

Blazing a trail across the thriller scene

Lexi Sobado is a multi-faceted, irresistible protagonist, eminently worthy of a series in her name. Her unconventional upbringing makes her a formidable opponent, trained in kung fu and accomplished at skills taught her from the age of 13 by Spyder McGraw, an operative from the mysterious Iniquus group. Educated in the finer points of cooking and languages by the Kitchen Grandmothers (one of my favorite discoveries in the novel), Lexi, at 20, has all the smarts she needs to trounce the man who’s stalking her, quoting macabre poetry and casting sinister shadows on everything she does. Add to the mix two Dobermans who have her back and an organization few are tough enough to mess with, only someone very dangerous and very bad would take her on. And take her on the sadistic stalker does, with grisly results. When the Iniquus team moves Lexi to a safe house, her skills—physical, emotional, intellectual, and metaphysical--are tested to their limits as she grows close to the man whose job it is to protect her. Fiona Quinn and Lexi promise to blaze a trail across the thriller landscape with gleaming moments of storytelling, not to mention a bathroom scene that guarantees you'll never look at a balloon the same way again.

LOVED this book!

I'm making my way through the Kindle Scout selections and have yet to be disappointed. This one is FANTASTIC! It features a strong, smart, multi-talented, likable, young heroine who is incredibly well-rounded. Lexi's "unschool' education makes me wish we could have raised my daughter in this type of nurturing and sharing environment. Lexi has multiple mentors who have trained her in each of their specialties. The resulting young woman can cook a different type of cuisine every night of the week, perform Reiki healing, outmaneuver highly trained teams at the paintball range, and solve complex criminal puzzles that stump law officials -- just to name a few of her talents. This novel follows Lexi as she is forced to deal with a deranged stalker. "Weakest Lynx" is a fast-paced, entertaining book. I can't wait for its follow-up to be released because I'm completely hooked!

A weirdly fascinating and truly enjoyable read!

D K Cassidy explores the lives of characters first introduced in her previous book, “Spilt Milk”. The characters are all deeply disturbed individuals, but the author artfully weaves in enough detail to make those people real. The writing is clean, simple prose that sometimes borders on poetry, and, by switching into each character’s point of view, we see some of their motivations, why they are so disturbed and separated from the world around them. Scenes in several of the stories, beginning in the first, border on magical realism and I found myself glad the author didn’t make clear whether or not those events were real, or the imaginings of a disturbed mind; Author D K Cassidy's prose is an excellent example of the “less is more” rule. The characters and events are fleshed out so well they’ll stay with you long after the book has been read. This is a five-star read that I highly recommend to readers of any genre!

Having read D. K. Cassidy before, I know what an amazing writer she is. But this time, while consuming her newest book, “Curious Reality,” I instinctively started to analyze the depth of this author’s power and why she ‘speaks’ to me.

Using unique, haunting, and an almost Haiku-esque prose, she manages to bring a true authenticity to her characters and their various mental issues. Whether it be hallucinations or bizarre obsessions leftover from childhood abuse, or simply part of life’s inevitable scars, in her insightful hands, she catapults us all to dark places––places that may horrify you, but at the same time, pull at your heart strings. And as she intertwines these characters together into some form of dysfunctional network, she always, ALWAYS makes you think on a more profound, soulful level. Inspirational...

Brilliant Read!

Let me start by saying, I preordered it, got it this morning and had it read by noon - yes, it's that good! Now for the more formal review!

Curious Reality by D.K. Cassidy continues to explore the lives of characters introduced in her earlier work, Spilt Milk. While I recommend you start with Spilt Milk, it isn't necessary to do so to enjoy and understand the current offering.

The recurring characters (Caleb, Joy, and George) all lead rather dysfunctional lives that curiously intersect. In this read, Joy discovers she has a special talent; Caleb makes some decisions about life; and George may just find his soul mate. Of course, in Cassidy's version of reality, all of these events are just slightly twisted and off-balance which is what makes her work so original and thought -provoking.

Spilt Milk was, by far, the best book I read in 2014 and, as a follow-up, Curious Reality does not disappoint. Amazing Book!

This book was a wonderful read. It was great to read about all the different experiences others have had with this goddess. Its full of information of all kinds. If you are serious about Hekate you MUST own this book!

Great insight on the Goddess.

Her Sacred Fires is a great book to have for anyone interested in the Great Goddess of magick, or occult in general in my opinion. What I really enjoy about this book is that it is a collection of personal results and philosophies from all over the world from those who work with the Goddess of Witch Blood. It is not a book to get into if you are looking for spells and trans-mutational rites at soul level(such as Mark A. Smith's Queen of Hell and Trident series), but is a wonderful book to gain insight as to how others work with her many forms, and to see the influence and impact she has made and continues to make all over the world. You will see many differences, but also many similarities despite cultural backgrounds and geographical locations. A great read to further the knowledge of the Goddess, and you may even find tools or practices to develop and incorporate into your own practices.

Lots to learn. Very historically detailed about different cultures, time and names. It connected to dots to reasoned that all the goddesses can be in one.

Not very useful for real projects.

The textbook only covers basics. It is a book for beginners and for low level college introductory microcontroller courses. The book not very useful for real projects. The author give me an impression that he just started to learn about AVR right before starting to write this book. In this book, it is not much explanation on the hardware features; being able to connect to external memory for ATmega128. Author use for examples Atmega32. Interfaces examples no cover CAN and USB connections to AVR. No cover connection to graphics matrix displays.

AVR Microcontroller and Embedded Systems: Using Assembly and C (Pearson Custom Electronics Technology)

I will start of by saying that out of all the text books I have come across this is by far one of the best.

I need this book for part of an engineering degree, focused on the AVR micro-controller. Coming form a programing degree I found this book very good, clear and it is filled with useful examples.
One thing i loved about the book is that it was written in a way that it can be used by people with little experience with programing, or anyone who is new to Assembly and embedded systems programing.

I loved the introductory chapters as they gave you are feel and solid back round in AVR and computing.
One more note that I found very important was the fact that as the examples got more complicated they often had both C and assembly side by side which helps give a better perspective of what you are doing.

Book used for College Assembly Course

This is the book assigned for an Assembly class I am taking.

The scope of this book is not stated on Amazon, but this book is intended for college students learning Assembly with some C knowledge, (obviously using Atmel AVRs to learn with.)

This book was clearly written and published very quickly, without a lot of effort and without much proofing. Many sections in this book are unclear and awkwardly worded. There are several blatant errors that are all results of the book not being proofed before publishing. The authors/publishers also offer classroom PowerPoint slides to colleges who use this book. These slides are riddled with errors, typos, and mistakes.

This could have been a very good book, even a five star book. All of the information that you need to know/learn is there. It is unfortunate that the authors didn't spend a little more time in writing and proofing the book before publishing it.
